Family Fun Day — Bounce House, Sno-cones, BBQ — Sunday, Sept. 7, 11 AM

Each fall our 3rd grade children receive Bibles in a special Sunday school Rally Day worship service.  We present the Bibles to the parents and encourage them to read it with their children. 

We encourage regular worship service attendance by all our youth and encourage the family to attend worship together.  We do have a staffed nursery available at all services with highly qualified nursery supervisors.

Special youth worship service roles include:

ACOLYTES:     This worship service opportunity is available for children 3rd-7th grade.  The acolyte lights/extinguishes our candles during each worship service on Sunday.

ALTAR ASSISTANTS:     An exciting opportunity to serve during worship for our 8th-12th grade youth.  This position incorporates the acolyte and the communion assitant roles into one.  The altar assistant will serve as acolyte and will also serve communion alongside our adult communion assistants.  This role prepares our older youth for the transition of acolyte to communion assistant. 

CRUCIFERS:     We use crucifers during periods of high worship.  This position is usually held by a middle/high school student who carries the cross leading our acolytes into the sanctuary.

YOUTH SUNDAY:     Happens every first Sunday of each month at the 830am service.  Junior communion assistants help with holding communion cups and we have youth greeters.

Sundays at 9:45am our youth and family choir meets in the choir room for singing.  This choir is open to all congregation members and performs at our worship services on special occasions as determined by our music ministry.

Our 5th graders make first communion on Maundy Thursday prior to Easter Sunday.  Prior to first communion, our 5th graders must attend a 5 session class so they understand the meaning of communion. 

Every Sunday during the academic school year we have Sunday school for ages 3 yrs to high school.  Class begins at 10:00am and lasts until 10:45am.  We use AKALOO curriculum, which is web-based material with encouraged take-home family discussion.  Our Sunday school is led by superintendent, Gail Wendt.

Our confirmation class is taught by Pastor Johnson.  The class is taught to our 7th and 8th graders on Wednesday evenings and attendance is mandatory!  Confirmation is held on Reformation Sunday in the fall.
